- While his surname references a city in Shiga prefecture, his given name derives from the game called Carrom that is often played there. Though this indicates that the proper spelling should be "Carrom", Himaruya officially romanizes it as "Kalom" (and Karom in earlier profiles).
- Amusingly, the United Kingdom character in Himaruya's later series Axis Powers Hetalia bears a strong resemblance to Kalom. However, while UK resembles Kalom in physical appearance, his personality is more like Homare's.
